“One needs only to study a certain positioning of the hand in relation to the keys to obtain with ease the most beautiful sounds.”

— Frédéric Chopin

Discovering Poetry in Music

For nearly a century, Chopin’s teachings were largely forgotten, preserved only through a small lineage of dedicated pupils while much of the world moved on to Czerny’s C major exercises. Chopin’s music lived on, but much is lost about the way it was played – the philosophy and approach through which such beautiful music is made possible.

Here at Salon Chopin, we bring the master’s insights to the modern day. We carry on his teachings through our one‑to‑one lessons that prioritize sound, suppleness, and musical thinking. Our students learn to listen, to shape a phrase, and to solve technical problems with patience and curiosity. Whether you are preparing for a diploma, a university audition, or simply returning to the piano, here you will find a teacher who will create with you the most beautiful music.

Piano

Our piano course develops the student’s tone, finger independence, phrasing, and performance confidence, while providing a structured practice system that yields consistent results, guided by Chopin’s pedagogical approach. We do not chase exam grades blindly – they come when the student is ready and the music is right. Repertoire spans from Bach to contemporary, with a special emphasis on Chopin’s own works and the Romantic period.

Musicianship

Behind every great musician is a great ear – and the ability to bring unwritten music to life. Musicianship is the practical understanding of music: training your ear, mastering rhythm, improvising with confidence, and applying theory at the keyboard. Offered as a 30‑ or 45‑minute add‑on to piano lessons, or as a standalone class.
